About Our Call Center
The Mental Health Association in New Jersey’s Call Center serves as a hub for support and resources for individuals and family members regarding mental illness and substance use disorders. It includes New Jersey MentalHealthCares for mental health and co-occurring issues; Peer Recovery WarmLine for people in recovery; New Jersey Self-Help Group Clearinghouse for people seeking a self-help support group for a variety of issues (in addition to behavioral health); NJ Connect for Recovery for family members with a loved one living with substance use disorder; and New Jersey Disaster Mental Health Helpline, activated in times of disaster. All of our call lines are provided in partnership with the State of New Jersey and other agencies. They are highly regarded as services that make a difference in people’s lives every day.

NJMentalHealthCares is New Jersey’s behavioral health information and referral service. Our staff of specialists uses its experience and understanding of the behavioral health system to provide free, confidential emotional support, information and referral. We offer callers information and connect them to the behavioral health and other services they need, such as legal, housing, employment, rehabilitation, inpatient and outpatient, self-help and more. Our trained staff also provides supportive counseling, psycho-education, advocacy and telephone case management to ensure every caller is linked to their desired service plan.

The Peer Recovery WarmLine
For People in Recovery

The Peer Recovery WarmLine (PRW) is a peer-run service providing ongoing telephone support to people in recovery from mental illness. All calls are answered by peers who are trained, supportive people with lived experience with mental health disorder. At the Peer Recovery WarmLine we try to get to know callers as a person and how they view their world.

For Family Members and Friends of People Living with Substance Use Disorder

The NJ Connect for Recovery Call Line focuses on helping people who are experiencing distress related to the substance use disorder of a family member or friend. This service is a safe, confidential, nonjudgmental forum that New Jerseyans may call for emotional support, information and referral regarding their loved one’s substance use.

Activated During Disasters
NJ Disaster Mental Health Helpline provides public access to targeted mental health services in case of a natural or artificial disaster or terrorist attack. The helpline is equipped to quickly develop resources to better assist New Jersey’s affected populations.
The Call Center call lines are Mental Health Association in New Jersey services that are funded by the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
