MinuteClinic®, the Medical Clinic Inside Select CVS® Pharmacy® Stores, will be honored at the Mental Health Association in New Jersey’s 22nd Annual Evening of Excellence.
Community members in New Jersey and in a growing number of regions across the country can now access convenient mental health counseling and care services thanks to CVS Health®. Recognizing the mounting number of mental health concerns that have surfaced over the last few years, MinuteClinic®, has added Licensed Mental Health Providers (LMHPs) to its staff at a select number of locations. In response to a growing national need for community-based, affordable, convenient mental health care services, CVS Health is taking important steps to increase access to needed services both in-person and virtually.
“We are so excited to see MinuteClinic offer holistic care and integrate mental health with physical health care in our communities. We also appreciate access to virtual counseling services. These are important, innovative approaches, especially in a time when psychiatrists and therapists are in high demand,” said Carolyn Beauchamp, President and CEO of the Mental Health Association in New Jersey.
MinuteClinic LMHPs can provide mental health assessments, referrals, counseling and personalized care plans in-person or via virtual care, with appointments available in select states, seven days a week. Ongoing counseling sessions with a LMHP are available to help address areas of concern, including stress, anxiety and depression. If a person has a need for higher levels of care, the MinuteClinic LMHP will assist with finding an appropriate specialist and collaborate with the individual’s existing providers, when appropriate.
In addition to providing real-time support, MinuteClinic providers also raise awareness and educate the public, working to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, which can be a barrier to obtaining treatment.
“We recognize the dire need for affordable and accessible mental health care in local communities,” said Angela Patterson, DNP, FNP-BC, NEA-BC, FAANP, Chief Nurse Practitioner Officer, Retail Health, and Vice President, CVS Health. “The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a severe emotional toll on many of our neighbors, and we see patients reporting increased feelings of stress, depression, anxiety and isolation. MinuteClinic is a caring, convenient and trustworthy resource to listen and help.”
In New Jersey, mental health counseling services are available virtually statewide and in-person at MinuteClinic locations in Lawrenceville, Runnemede, Marlton and Mount Laurel.
