The Power of Peers (POP) is an internship program offered by the Mental Health Association in New Jersey in Ocean County. It provides a comprehensive educational and credentialing path for individuals who aspire to work in New Jersey as Certified Peer Recovery Specialists (CPRS) and/or Recovery Support Practitioners (CRSP). The program consists of 165 hours of work-experience education and 335 hours of observation/supervised practice, which fulfills the 500-hour work experience credentialing requirement.
POP applicants must be 18 years or older, have successfully completed the required education for the CPRS or CRSP credential and demonstrate interest in pursuing a career as a Peer Specialist.
